Alf Wilhelm Lundberg

Hello, I'm a guitarist (and pianist) living in Trondheim in Norway. I have a new trio called Alf Wilhelm Lundberg Trio with Jo Fougner Skaansard and Erik Nylander now that recently recorded some of my tunes, I just put them out here for you to check 'em out... :) This trio will, along with Norchestra, be my main priority and focus the next year, working towards new cd-releases with both of the bands. After studying intensively the techniques of classical guitar the last years I'm now happy to present my new music with these two trios. Hope you enjoy it, feel free to leave a comment if you like to :) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Alf Wilhelm Lundberg Trio is a new guitar trio that plays tunes inspired from Lundbergs earlier guitar teachers and mentors Adam Rogers and Nelson Veras. In addition to playing the electric guitar, Lundberg also focuses on having a strong sound on classical guitar in this trio setting. He seeks to create something new and fresh by combining traditional picking techniques with a special thumbpick that allows classical techniques with all fingers and nails to be used in addition to the pick in the same time. Joining Lundberg in this trio is Jo Fougner Skaansar on double bass and Erik Nylander on drums, players that in the recent years have emerged as some of the finest players in the strong scandinacian music scene. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- Alf Wilhelm Lundberg Trio er en ny gitartrio som spiller musikk inspirert av Lundbergs tidligere gitarlærere og musikalske mentorer Adam Rogers og Nelson Veras. I tillegg til å spille elgitar, Lundberg fokuserer sterkt på å ha et bra og eget "sound" på klassisk gitar i denne triosettingen. Han prøver å skape noe nytt og spennende med et spesielt tommelplekter som tillater vanlig plekterteknikk å la seg kombinere med tradisjonelle klassiske teknikker spilt med negler. Med seg i denne trioen har vi Jo Fougner Skaansar på kontrabass og Erik Nylander på trommer, musikere som i de seneste år har markert seg som noen av de flotteste unge musikerne på den sterke skandinaviske musikkscenen. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------ Alf Wilhelm Lundberg - Gitarist, pianist og komponist med bakgrunn fra jazzlinja i Trondheim. Etter 4 år der med ekstra fordypning i arrangering og komposisjon vant han under Umbria Jazz Clinics i 2003 1.pris som gitarist i konkurranse med over 280 unge lovende jazzmusikere fra hele verden. Har i ettertid også studert gitar flere ganger med Adam Rogers i New York, Nelson Veras i Paris, og klassisk gitar med Jarl Strømdal i Trondheim siden 2007. Turnert store deler av England, Polen, Sverige, Finland, Italia og Frankrike med bandene "All Strings Trio", "Faces" & "Kofi/Makowski Quartet", og spilt på noen av de største jazzfestivalene i Europa som Kongsberg Jazzfestival, London Jazzfestival & Umbria Jazz. Ellers vunnet Statoils Sildajazzpris og Haugesund Kommunes Kulturstipend i 2004. Tatt ut til rikskonsertenes og norsk jazzforums lanseringsprogram for unge norske jazzmusikere i 2004 med trioen "Alf Wilhelm Lundberg Trio". Har blitt beskrevet som en av de beste gitaristene i Norge og blitt sammenlignet med jazz- og klassisk-giganter som Egberto Gismonti, Keith Jarrett og Andres Segovia av anmeldere i Norge. Har også mottatt stipend fra Statens Kunstnerstipend i 2008 for å fremme sitt virke og arbeide som komponist.Hadde sitt nasjonale gjennombrudd i Norge som gitarist, pianist og komponist med bandet og cd-utgivelsen "Norchestra" som ble gitt i februar 2008 på plateselskapet Norcd til utelukkende strålende kritikker fra en samlet norsk presse. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Alf Wilhelm Lundberg -Guitarist, pianist and composer with a diploma from the Jazz- department of the conservatory at NTNU in Trondheim. After 4 years there with extra lessons in composing and arranging, he won the 1st prize as guitarist competing with over 280 talented musicians from all over the world during the Umbria Jazz Clinics in 2003. Afterwards he also studied guitar with Adam Rogers in New York, Nelson Veras in Paris and classical guitar with Jarl Strømdal in Trondheim since 2007. Has toured parts of U.K., Poland, Sweden, Finland, Italy and France as a sideman with the bands "All Strings Trio", "Faces" and "Kofi/Makowski Quartet", and played at some of the greatest jazzfestivals in Europe such as Kongsberg Jazzfestival, London Jazzfestival & Umbria Jazz. He also won several awards in Norway, amongst those Statoils Sildajazz Award and an Art Scholarship from the Municipality of Haugesund. Has been praised as one of the greatest guitarplayers in Norway and comparisons has been made to jazz- and classical-giants such as Egberto Gismonti, Keith Jarrett & Andres Segovia by critics in Norway. He received in 2008 a grant from The Art Fund from the state of Norway in order to promote his work as a composer. Had its national breakthrough as a guitarist, pianist and composer with the band & debutcd "Norchestra" which was released in February 2008 on the label Norcd and received great reviews by major jazzreviewers in Norway.
