Pat Floody & Friends

About Me

Pat Floody hails from Drogheda, County Louth on the northeast coast of Ireland. When Pat was six years of age, he sneaked into his mother’s room, climbed up to get her melodeon on top of her dresser. He got the melodeon alright, it landed on his head but this didn’t stop Pat from bringing out the melody of Silent Night in a short space of time. Perhaps this was a metaphorical message from above that Pat was to be an accordian player. Pat has been playing ever since and there is no sign of him stopping. In 1976 Pat recommended me for a job in McKenna’s for the summer season playing guitar with Tommy Doyle on accordian, Johnny Butler on drums and Seamus Logue on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. I have recently had the opportunity to meet his family, esp. his son Paddy who is featured playing two lively jigs on the guitar. Paddy is a musical player and both he and his brother are fine drummers. I was impressed with how connected Pat is with his family. He is proud of their achievements and adores his grandchildren. As a musician he is soulful and plays with a natural flair. I feel there is something for everyone on this CD with it’s variety, contrasting styles and creative arrangements. Producer - Terry Feeley
