Bob Stirner

About Me

Bob Stirner's passion is guitar and he has played it for over 30 years now. Currently performing in the multi instrumental, all original Jam/ Grass band Boris Garcia ( www.borisgarcia.com ) , his playing and unique style have factored steadily in the Jam and Roots music scene for well over 23 years. Stirner sings and writes in Boris and plays a bit of bass as well!! Logging in over 20 years in the seminal Jam band Living Earth ( a fierce and accurate tribute to the Grateful Dead ) Bob has performed with the likes of John Cippolina ( Quicksilver Messenger Service ), Tom Constanten ( Grateful Dead ), Johnny Neel ( Allman Bros ), Mark Karan ( Ratdog, Other Ones ), Peter Rowan, Pete Sears, Buddy Cage ( NRPS, Bob Dylan ), Tim Carbone ( Railroad Earth 0, Donna Jean Godchaux ( Grateful Dead ),Barry Sless ( Phil and Friends, David Nelson Band ) and Mookie Segal ( David Nelson, Donna Jean and the Tricksters ) and has forged an unmistakable sound and style . Stirner can be seen on tour with Boris Garcia, an all original Jam / Grass band co managed by Dennis McNally , former publicist for the Grateful Dead and current publicist for Ratdog . Combining strong songwriting with fiery musicianship and three part harmonies..... " it's guitar/ mandolin interplay and galloping rhythm section recall the Workingmans Dead sound..". Currently touring in support of Boris's third release "Once More Into The Bliss " Stirner's playing, singing and songwriting can be heard on AAA and Americana stations accross the land. Bob proudly uses and endorses Two Rock amplification, Hard Trucker cabinets, Scott Walker guitars and Pedaltrain pedalboards.

Boris Garcia is Jeff Otto, Uke, Bass, guitar, vocals, Bud Bouroughs, Mandolin, Bouzouki, accordian, keys, Eugene Smith, Harmonica, recorder, guitar, vocals, Steev Ferraro, drums and percussion and Bob Stirner, guitar, bass and vocals."During my 25 years with Grateful Dead Productions, I listened to a lot of jamming, both electric and acoustic. Recently, though I still work with Bob Weir, I've been approached by a fair number of bands to help them, and have usually not been moved enough by the music to say yes - until I heard Boris Garcia. They fuse a bluegrass/country/folk sound with a jazzy rock improvisation mode and really excellent songwriting. Some say it reminds them of Tom Petty, others of old Byrds. Either way, I like them, and want to share them with my larger family. So here y'are!"Dennis McNally
