About Me
I have played bass for 25 years, first influences were The Police, The Pretenders, Rush ( Geddy + Rickenbacker = Musical Mathematics ), a defunct Canadian band fr/ Quebec called The Box ( Jean-Pierre Brie, master of the Steinberger ), Cheap Trick ( Tom Peterson invents the 12-string bass ), much later got into Soundgarden ( Chris Cornell's been a bit of a disappointment since ), Stone Temple Pilots ( DeLeo + Danelectro = AssKick ), My Bloody Valentine ( the great Kevin Shields on guitar ), Lush ( Wo ist Miki? ), Cocteau Twins, Jane's Addiction, Juliana Hatfield, Throwing Muses, The Pixies, The Breeders, The Replacements, Pearl Jam, Guided By Voices, the Tragically Hip ( brilliant bass line in Grace, Too ), Kathleen Edwards ( Colin Cripps on guitar, used to be in Crash Vegas ), Led Zeppelin, The Beatles ( everyone should hear "She Said, She Said"), etc. An album rock fans should own is The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion from the Black Crowes, it's a classic. Recently, made discovery of how VERY talented Damhnait Doyle is ( she must have a nuclear-powered diaphragm, she can sing and sustain a note longer than anyone else I've ever heard ), also Gordie Sampson ( did great guitar work on "Davnet" by Ms. Doyle, also on his own album "Stones"). Work-wise I have done electronic engineering/repair, some paying gigs playing bass as well, not self-deluded however about how hard it is to get into music business. I have long had interest in foreign languages, trying to learn some arabic, farsi, pashto, russian, urdu, ukrainian, serbo-croatian, german as hobby.
