the word about "Cultural Vandalism"
If I had to use one word to describe myself, 'Christian' is the word I would use. More than anything, that title identifies all that I am. My biggest goal in life is to be like Christ. Everyday, I fight the deceitfully wicked desires of my heart in order to lead a life more like my Savior. I want my friends and family to witness this process and see how God reveals Himself through me, to the world.
After many years of doing secular rap, I started doing gospel rap at age 20. It was different for me. In most secular rap, you have to lie and exaggerate about the things you possess, especially if you are an unsigned artist. Now that I changed to Gospel, I can tell the complete truth. Jesus, who is the son of God, who is God wrapped in human flesh, came to earth, died the most horrific death, was buried in a borrowed tomb, resurrected, and now sits at the right hand of God the father. He did all of this to bridge the gap of a broken relationship between God and humankind, caused by our sin. No need to exaggerate about this, for the facts speak boldly on their own.
Now that I live for Christ, my desire is to preach the good news for the rest of my life. I want to spread the gospel through every avenue at my disposal, rather it be through a mic in a booth, behind a pulpit in a church, or a street corner in the hood. No matter the atmosphere, the message will remain the same.
I currently intern at my home church, The Journey, where I have grown spiritually and practically. I can’t stress enough how important it is for a Christian to be apart of a church to help challenge and sanctify them in Christ. I have a heart for the inner city in north St. Louis, MO. It might be one of the roughest place in St. Louis but that is where I’m from, and that is where God is leading me to serve. I am looking forward to going to Covenant Seminary to further my biblical education that will be more than helpful for the type of reform preaching I hope to be doing.
Also, marriage is in the very near future. Her name is Danielle, and we’ve been together for some years now. It’s time to man up, and put the ring on her finger. That might be the most exciting and scariest thing that I am looking forward to at this point in my life.
