I am a Puerto Rican theater director, actress, and dramaturg and one of the founders of Pregones Theater, the acclaimed Bronx-based ensemble. Director credits include THE RED ROSE/LA ROSA ROJA featuring Danny Rivera (2005) and EL ULTIMO ROSARIO DE MEDEA featuring Lupita Ferrer (2006). Current projects include THE PHONE CALL, BETSY - a collaboration with Roadside Theater from Kentucky and BRIDES a new, international collaboration with women-led theaters in Belgium and Slovakia. I am a 2009 USA Fontanal Fellow and a 2006 Ford Foundation Visionaries Fellow. Other merits include multiple recognitions from HOLA Organization of Latin Actors, ACE Association of Hispanic Critics and Bronx institutions. I also serve on the Board of the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC), as faculty at NALAC's annual Leadership Institute,and of Theater Communications Group as President of the US Center of the International Theater Institute (ITI), affiliated to TCG.
