"I am a swimmer. Not just any swimmer, but a high-class, elite, I'll smoke-you-any-day swimmer. I live for the 2+ hour practices, followed by the feeling of complete physical exhaustion. I get a high off the chlorine that is unlike the high of anything else. My body automatically reacts to a quick whistle or buzzer, and the sound of a fuzzy voice over a microphone gets my adrenaline pumping. I am proud to take in 9,000 calories a day and i laugh at the girls who count their intakes. Nothing these girls ever do will get their metabolisms as sky-high as ours are. I willingly embrace the taste of latic acid in my mouth after an unmerciful set. I show off the scars on my feet from the times i accidently scraped the bulkhead mid-flip turn or from when i kicked a lane line, and i proudly display the bloody wounds my fins have left on my toes. I love my swollen knuckles from all the times i jammed my fingers into the wall in hopes of dropping one one-hundredth of a second. Want to break your fingers? Just feel my triceps. I like half hating and half loving the deep groves my racing suit leaves permenatly etched into my skin. Chlorine, my drug of choice, leaves my skin terribly dry and blinding white, but i am willing to accept this in the name of swimming. I am a swimmer. Full of dedication, muscle, adrenaline, and the will to win. Watch out, because here i come."
