The Scenics play
What Goes On at their first live show in 26 years. April 13 2008 Horseshoe Tavern w/ Carla Bozulich. Song from their CD
How Does it Feel to be Loved: The Scenics play the Velvet Underground. Video by Aldo Edric of 'To Be Scene' Productions.
Growing Pains, an unrecorded song written in 1980, from the Horseshoe/Bozulich gig. Many more videos on youtube.
Influences: (In no particular order) The Velvet Underground, Pere Ubu, a radio stuck between two stations, the Shangrilas, finding a penny, The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, where do the chords go when they go? Patti Smith, Little Johnny Jewel, little kids, 13th Floor Elevators, Turtles, The Byrds, jazz, noise, the Beau Brummels, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Syd, Fairport Convention, walking anywhere (city, country) for 10 minutes and just listening- {in the city it sounds like throbbing gristle, in the country it sounds like Tchaikovsky played by ghosts) the Monkees, Big Star, The Emprees and all things american garage, Ramones, Roxy Music, Eno, dub and glam production (Visconti and Ken Scott) Eric Dolphy, Dylan, the Band, early Motown, Flamin Groovies, the Original Contortions, Bowie, Cap'n Beefheart, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Stooges, NY Dolls, Beach Boys....
Sounds Like: Big Star arm wrestles with Pere Ubu, and the winner jams with Television.
With bigger amps.
