About Me

Singer/Songwriter Doug Gochman ranks Kris Kristofferson and John Prine among some of his favorite songwriters. “I like their sense of humor. I like their take on life; the rhyme schemes they use,” he says. The influence of these troubadours (among others) has brought Doug’s music to where it is today: a blend of Rock and Roll, Country, Blues, Bluegrass and Folk that sits comfortably in the Americana genre.Originally from NYC, Doug spent his teens being influenced by the bands he snuck out to see at Madison Square Garden. He started playing in cover bands in High School and while at New York University, started to write and perform his own songs. Working with the band, The Shakers, Doug got his first taste of the rock and roll lifestyle: lugging gear to and performing at CBGB’s, The Bitter End, The Lone Star Café and other NYC venues. Doug honed his songwriting skills working as one-half of the duo Common Cents. The two released two CD’s on their Indy label while touring throughout the Northeast, New England and Midwest. Doug eventually moved out to Los Angeles to pursue his music and acting ambitions and began performing as a solo act at clubs like Genghis Cohen. He also did a stint as lead singer of The Feudin’ McCoy’s, a country cover band. And, after picking up the bass guitar, he found himself holding down the bottom end in a variety of local LA acts including hard rock band Loud, the countrified Cynthia Ford band and jam band, Mass Distraction.Check out some of Dougs Voice-Over Work: Key Bank TV Commercial(listen to the final tag!)Another Key Bank TV Spot. The two of them took the material Doug had been crafting for several years, and created “Right Onto The Track.” The ten original songs range in style from the horn infused R and B of “Nothin To Lose,” to the cry-in-your-beer country ballad, “Terrible Mistake,” to the bluegrassy “Fool For Love.” Pure Americana. Doug sings lead and background vocals on this debut solo release, and he also plays lead, acoustic and rhythm guitars. He is joined by Colin Cameron on Bass and Jonathan Mitchell on Drums. Completing the All-Star line-up are Mike Mangan on Hammond B-3; Chris Buessem on mandolin and banjo; Nate Lapointe on pedal steel guitar; Robert Heft on electric and slide guitar; Dan Grazzianni on harmonica; Terry Landry on sax ; Larry Williams on trumpet and Eric Jorgenson on trombone; singers Laura Milby and Jeddrah; and Dave Takahashi ..o.
