About Me

So why did I go to Hopkins and then decide to join the Marines.... as an infantry grunt?
When the debates end and the politicians finish talking, the Marines are the ones who go out there and act. Not impressive-sounding policitians. Not critical college students. They base their opinions on books and so-called "experts", but the Marine doesn't. They see the real thing with their own eyes. They see the smiles of Iraqi and Afghani children getting to go to school for the first time. I joined the infantry because grunts will never have to guess or base their views on the opinions of someone else. They keep their talk to themselves and DO it.
Now I'm part of a Combat Search and Rescue unit. Rather than writing essays about the war, I find that going out there and rescuing pilots, hostages, and other people in need to be more real and tangible. And much more rewarding.
I guess you can say that I am not your average Korean Christian.

My Interests

growing in my faith in my God and Savior Jesus Christ, LIVING OUT and SPREADING the Good News, the Ahn family, Marine Corps infantry, smiling, history, languages, foreign policy, trying to stick my last name into every conceivable word, my crazy Youth Group kids, CTRL+SHIFT+8 on AIM, dancing to the weirdest songs, taking lots and lots of pictures everywhere I go, cigars, egg nog, pumpkin pie, Reisling wine, pad thai, Hagen-Daas Dulce De Leche ice cream, girls that smell good, skiing/snowboarding, WWII documentaries on the History Channel, becoming a more humble servant of others.

I'd like to meet:

1) Men and women of God.
2) People whom I've lost contact with.
