Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord...†This clearly describes the life and ministry of Bishop Larry L. Brandon. A well-loved pastor, minister, and spiritual father, Brandon oversees one of the fastest growing churches in the Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana area, the Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral. Covered in ministry by Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., the presiding bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, International (FGBCFI), Brandon is also the founder and CEO of Praise Temple Ministries and L. L. Brandon Ministries, Inc.An active member of the FGBCFI, Bishop Brandon serves in several roles: he is the Southern Regional Bishop for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. He also serves on the fellowship’s Apostolic Council and is part of the Church Planting Team. In 2002, Brandon was appointed as the Bishop of Marriage and Family Enrichment.A recipient of several awards and proclamations, Brandon is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and has also served as a Certified Pastoral Addiction Counselor (CPAC) for the National Board of Addiction Examiners. He has received a certification from the United States Air Force Substance Abuse Counseling Course, and has also received the Louisiana State Board Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor. As such, Brandon has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Louisiana’s “One Church, One Addict†program.A socially active businessman and minister, Brandon is a member of the Board of Regents of the National Center for Faith Based Initiatives, as well as the Shreveport Chapter of the NAACP, and the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. He was also honored as being a panel guest for the Social Security Reform Effort during President George W. Bush’s visit to Shreveport in March 2005.Brandon serves as Chancellor of the University Christian Preparatory School of Shreveport, Louisiana, and is also a member of the Louisiana Baptist University Board of Regents. He also serves as a member of the Louisiana State University at Shreveport/Midway Middle School Advisory Council. Having completed the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops’ College Level I (Cleveland, Ohio) and Level II (Rome, Italy), Brandon is also a member of the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops Congress.
Bishop Brandon completed the Summer Leadership Institute ‘99 at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Baptist Christian University of Shreveport, Louisiana. In addition, he has an earned a Master of Theology from Guadalupe Baptist Theological Seminary of San Antonio, Texas, and is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Louisiana Baptist University. Brandon is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Sacred Theology at the Graduate School of Episcopal Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Brandon and his wife, affectionately known as Co-Pastor Wanda, joyfully serve together in ministry and have five children.
