Band Members: Ray Starr
Influences: Ray Starr has been influenced by The
Texas Troubador Ernest Tubb. Back when he was 10
years old, he got a chance to meet him a couple of
times and his way with people just stuck with Ray.
In Ernest Tubb's eyes everyone is important no
matter who they are. He loved the way Ernest Tubb
entertained the audience. Ernest helped many
people by having them as guests on the Midnite
Jamboree.
Sounds Like: Ray met Mel Tillis in 1968 at Club Ludwig's in
Jackson, Michigan. Mel Told Ray he played the
guitar like Hank Williams. His only advice to Ray
was if you want to be a performer you've got to
keep working at it all the time and to never give
up. Everyone has a dream and some of them come
true.
Ray also got this same message when he met and
talked to Bill Anderson.
Ray has been told he sounds like Willie Nelson when he
recorded music in his younger days of country
music.
He has never tried to sound like anyone in
particular. What happens he thinks is when you
find a song that really touches your heart you
can't help but sing with a lot of feeling.
Attending many country concerts, he has been
influenced by the performers and he has
always picked up continuous music knowledge
from their shows through the years.
