About Me

I have played in in Rome with (among others) Chet Baker (1960-see photo) with various Italian Jazz bands, like The Roman New Orleans , The Seven Hill stompers, Romano Mussolini, Nunzio Rotondo, Cicci Santucci , Enzo Scoppa, Piero Umiliani, Lelio Luttazzi, the Leo Cancellieri Trio, The Modern jazz Gang with Sandro Brugnolini, Enzo Scoppa, Puccio Sboto,Carlo Metallo, Cicci Santucci , Roberto Podio , Alberto Collatina and recorded the LP"Miles Before and After" , the Umberto Cesari Trio. After a long silence while working in the Italian state owned steel conglomerate I started playing again in Switzerland in the 80's with the "All that Jazz " with Stephan Wieland, Frank Egli, Jeoff Kenworthy, Ruedi Spruengli,Thomas Bernhold. Participated to the Jazz Festival at the Teatro Quirino in Rome in 1956 and in San Remo in 1961 where I met the Modern Jazz Quartet and Don Rendell, with whom I had the pleasure of playing again together in London after 30 years! In London I joined David Wilson big band (Milestones) in the 90's and jammed with many English players. Nowadays ( 2006-2007)I started studying classical music and bowing technique and joined "The Learning Orchestra" while still playing jazz with my colleague Edward Lee ( the band is called Gulf Stream) and exploring new ways of making jazz. We call this Eurojazz which consists of interpreting jazz themes in a "chamber music" way.
