A synopsis:
Started playing at 9 and began setting in with dad's combos shortly there-after; moved into top percussionist position at the local high school while in middle school (6th grade); recorded on two albums and a single with a group called The Generation (regional distribution only) while in high school. Received John Phillip Sousa award and several percussion accolades. Attended college where I studied music theory and percussion. Toured, wrote for, recorded with a variety of acts after college, and was sponsored by Corder Drum Company (1994 purchased by Darwin Drums, who changes the name back to Fibes name). Currently playing with a Big Band Jazz Orchestra and a smaller Jazz Ensemble, but still do some rock and country session work either on site or have material sent directly to studios, teach privately, write and arrange (percussion and full scores), and support several acts in as-needed basis - also coach youth league soccer and a scout master. Oh yeah - full time dad and husband (hence the hesitation of long touring).
Current hardware: DW kit, PDP (DW) kit, 1970 Slingerland Curly Maple (red sparkle - first professional kit), Corder kit (big shell kit w/ 24"x 18" bass drum); Marimba One brand marimbas, Musser vibes, and LP percussion gear; combo of Paiste, Zildjian and Wuhan cymbals; Remo heads for snares and toms; Aquarian heads for bass drums; Vic Firth Sticks, Brushes, Mallets, etc.
Prefer Jazz, real Country Music, and fearsomely and aggressively written Alternative, some of which blends into the new catch-all genre Americana (see john doe ) - any music that is a musical and intellectual challenge (and that doesn't mean compositions that are over thought, over written and complicated; some of the best compositions are simple.
