New Haven Street Hockey

About Me

A while back, some 3 or 7 years ago, a group of New Haven malcontents realized that their fair city couldn't hold a minor league hockey team even if it had a handle. Taking up arms they decided to shut-up and put up. So they gathered some like minded individuals (i.e. bar flies, smokers, punk rockers and other ne'er-do-wells) and met one Saturday afternoon in a semi-empty parking lot next to the now deceased Daily Cafe coffee shop. And there, amidst the potholes, empty crack bags, gravel and broken glass (and the vomit of one particularly out-of-shape, one-time player) New Haven Street Hockey was born. Over the course of a few years players came and went...and came back again. The scrappy bunch moved about, playing in parking lots and actual rinks in and around the New Haven area. Gathering numbers and skills the crew offered up a challenge to hockey punk band Two Man Adavantage from Long Island. And after a long-fought battle of epic size worth writing about, the sweaty and battle-scarred group from New Haven sadly gave up the Henry Cup to th eforce from NY. But the cup will hopefully, some day return to Elm City soil. Eventually the group splintered and faded from view. But 'tis the season. And it's time to get fired up again. So let's do this like Brutus.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Well, you. If you enjoy playing street hockey, want to play with a like-minded group of lovable screw-ups, own some in-line skates or even if you can't skate worth a damn and would rather run around in your Converse, come get some action.

My Blog

The dilly, yo.

Okay. We wanna get some heads out to play street hockey again. Hopefully it'll quickly get to the point where if you were to just show up there would be enough folks to get some kind of game going, ah...
