Dawn Doherty

Born in New York, Dawn was introduced to Traditional Irish Music and sean nos singing at an early age by her grandmother who came from the Gaeltacht area in Co.Mayo. Dawn is 12 times All-Ireland champion in music and sean-nos singing. Dawn has also won the Oireachtas for music and song, and she has also won the junior and senior All-Ireland titles for music and song in Readoiri. Dawn has performed in concert tours in Germany, France and England. Dawn has also performed for 3 years at Wolf Trap Virginia, and Lincoln Centre with Ricky Skaggs as a solo artist. Dawn has appeared on American television and also as a special guest on radio programmes in New York and Washington. Dawn recently sang at St. Patrick’s Cathedral as Mick Moloney's special guest. Dawn sang for the former American embassador to Ireland Jean Kennedy Smith. Dawn has received a Higher National Diploma in Dublin for performance in Traditional Irish Music and Song, and has completed examinations in singing at the Royal Irish Academy of music and song. Dawn was also a champion Irish dancer and performed at the White House. Dawn has been teaching and adjudicating music and song for the past ten years throughout Ireland and abroad. Dawn is currently studying at the University of Limerick. Dawn will be attending NYU in September.
