"They gave their lives so that others, shall be free." Wreaths Across America 2006
Since 1992 thousands of graves of American veterans buried in Arlington National Cemetery have been adorned at Christmas time with red-ribboned, lush green wreaths donated by Morril and Karen Worcester of Worcester Wreath Co. in Maine.
In 2006, with Civil Air Patrol as a partner, wreath-laying ceremonies were expanded to include veterans' grave sites at every state and national cemetery nationwide. CAP members - many of them veterans themselves - went above and beyond the call to duty, with 60 cadets helping assemble wreaths and 47 wings taking part in inaugural Wreaths Across America ceremonies held across the country.
At Arlington National Cemetery and other grave sites, volunteers saluted graves, paused in silence and cried when trumpeters played taps. 2007 finds CAP embarking on a new trek, as it increases its participation in Wreaths Across America festivities by sponsoring the purchase of the rings of evergreen that symbolizes the veterans' love of country.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Arlington Cemetery 2006

In pursuit of our mission, we have outlined the following goals:

1. Offer Sponsorship opportunities to general public for $16 per wreath, with proceeds going to place the wreaths and support mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach.

2. Deliver to and place 2500 wreaths at each of the over 200 states and national veterans' cemeteries across the country.

3. Place 7 ceremonial wreaths at each of the 24 off shore veterans' cemeteries representing each branch of our armed forces.

4. Involve schools and youth groups to promote patriotism and the meaning and cost of freedom thru educational outreach program.

5. Beginning in Harrington, ME on ..h, a parade of vehicles, led by the Patriot Guard Riders, will form to escort the departure of the wreaths to locations across the country. A week long trip will take in stops at schools, town halls and veterans homes to promote awareness and patriotism.

In celebration of the expanded program, Worcester Wreath Company has stepped up its commitment to recognize the sacrafices of our veterans and their families. In 2007 Worcester Wreath Company will:

1. Donate 10,000 wreaths to be placed at Arlington Cemetery

2. Donate 2,500 wreaths to be placed at Maine cemeteries

3. Donate 7 wreaths to each of the 230-240 participating locations (each branch of the Military-MIA/POWs and adding Merchant Marines)

4. Donate a large wreath to be placed on Monday, ..h at each of the State Houses. This will be done with the participation of the National Funeral Directors Association
