I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Mauro Durante, frame drummer of the Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino from the age of 14, takes part in the most important national and internationals festivals. He learns the bases of the frame drums techniques from his father and the expert frame drummers who have worked with the Canzoniere. His contact with the older musicians and his studies from previous audio and video recordings, the participation in the “ronde” of traditional Salento festivals have also formed him.He studies frame drums and traditional violin in the “Conservatorio di musica Tito Schipa” in Lecce. He finishes the three year course and gets his diploma in 2006.In the same institute he attends a diploma course in classical violin with the master Francesco Sabato. He is also enrolled at the University of Lecce, attending Musicology of the “Beni Culturali” faculty.Since the year 2000 he has belonged to the Orchestra “Notte della Taranta” and to the “Ensemble Notte della Taranta” in all the concerts and important events in Italy and abroad, e.g. “Pizzica Sinfonica Project” under the direction of Piero Milesi; tours with the drummer of the Police, Stewart Copeland. In this important festival he has had the possibility of collaborating with several famous international musicians like Noa, Zohar Fresco, Joe Zawinul, Solis String Quartet, Raiz, Vittorio Cosma, Armand Sabal-Lecco, Lucio Dalla, Piero Pelù, Mauro Refosco, Richard Bona, Carmen Consoli, Franco Battiato, Gianna Nannini, Francesco De Gregori, Francesco Di Giacomo, Ensemble Bash.From 2006 he is a musician of the important Ancient Music Ensemble “Accordone”.
