"The audience is involved in the Mz Ann Thropik fun. One gig involved a raffle to win a date with Mz Ann . The winner was a 14yo, so any clubbing adventures were out of the question. Mz Ann , instead, took the winner and their friends on a picnic in the park. This wasn’t your typically staid ginger ale and cucumber sandwich picnic, this was a rambunctious outing in the park. The kind of outing that made small children hide behind their parents. The picnic also demonstrates Mz Ann’s philosophy with dealing with their underage fans. Mz Ann knows that teenage years are a stressful time. There is puberty, exams, peer group pressure, oppressive parents, oppressive schools, decisions on where to hang out, what colour underwear to wear, what to do with friends with no taste in music, etc, etc, etc. Mz Ann don’t want their fans to be down, they want them to confront their challenges. Not to wallow in misery, but to roar with energy. That is why Mz Ann Thropik has created the Tiger Hat Army . In their tiger hats, young fans can group together for support and ideas. Young fans are encouraged to live life to its fullest and have as much fun as possible." - Sebastian @ Faster Louder . com
"Despite the sometimes dark subject matter, the bands aim is to empower people. "Especially in today's world of soundtracks to kill yourself to, I want to create songs that show strength as a happy ending," Mz Ann continues, "I want people to realise that they can get back up from the darkest place they've been to and create something beautiful." To this end she encourages fans to join her Tiger Hat Army where they wear Tiger Hats to show their strength and belief in themselves. "I think too many kids these days are influenced by musicians to be depressed and sad, rather than take that sadness and depression and transform it into something creative, strong and beautiful," Mz Ann muses. - by Katrina of SX Magazine
