About Me

The band was originally named "Stone Gods" early in 2007. With years of combined musical experience, a shared love for sonic mayhem and a common vision, they unleashed their brand of blues-based rock upon the world. They deliver a blistering and ever-changing live set. The band was renamed "Machine King" as of 19 February 2008 and have received a positive response from the the international stoner/doom scene.Machine King recorded some material at the "The Stomach" in 2008 and a number of singles from these sessions were released on New Zealand student radio stations and the internet. The song "Where I've Been" is going to be released on an upcoming Radio Control 99.4 FM compilation album. Machine King now have their own studio equipment and work on new recordings has already begun...All free downloads from Machine King on this site are available under the following copyright license:

Sounds Like: So far we've been compared to Kyuss and The Obsessed... Blues, Stoner Rock, Doom, Psychedelic, Desert Rock, Post-Rock.Equipment:Dave uses: Silverburst 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Marshall JCM 900slx amplifier and Marshall cabinet. Morley wah. Boss digital delay. Peavey microphone. Black 2007 Parker accoustic guitar. Dave has also been playing the violin since a very young age and this instrument may appear in our future material.James uses: Gold 2005 Epiphone Jack Casady signature bass. Wood finish 2006 G&L L2500 Tribute (five string). Black 1980-something Epiphone Powerbass II, converted by James to a fretless. Tech 21 Sansamp Programmable Bass Driver DI. Warwick Pro Tube IV amplifier. Ampeg B 410 HLF cabinet. Various Digitech & Boss effects very rarely used. Yamaha PSR 520 Keyboard.Trevor uses: Rusty pots and pans, stolen rubbish bin lids and a blue Pearl drumkit sometimes.
