yo te adoro, por ti yo lloro..."I am a student at Emory University in Atlanta, and I am probably going to major within the liberal arts. Law school is definitely appealing to me, but I'm not restricting my options just yet. My interests have changed over the years.
Academically, I was a lot more involved during my younger years. I strived for excellence regardless of endeavor, but, unfortunately, as time has passed, life has posed a few obstacles that have caused me to neglect the possibility of achieving near perfection each and every time. I've sort of become one of those individuals who go with the flow. Thankfully, my family has instilled in me so many ambitions and values that the flow has hitherto solely lead me toward success- the current has helped me endlessly. I thank them for that. Athletically, I was an outstanding basketball player. I was First Team All County and First Team All-State, and I even lead the county in scoring and assists my junior year. I don't play basketball anymore- had to quit my senior year in High school and decided to abandon the sport in college, although I could have easily played Division 1.I graduated number 1 in my senior class of about 900 students, maintaining a 6.042 gpa. I was pretty dedicated in High school, yet I've burnt out. I've gone through a lot of changes in my life. Difficulties, too. I've been searching for stability as of late, but can't seem to find it. I've also been disillusioned with people a few times, but that's life. It's a vicious cycle; you hurt and get hurt. Sadly, it never stops. I wish everyone the best, but am only willing to help a select few achieve it. That's what differentiates my enemies from my friends.I have ONE really close friend. He's been there for me unconditionally when it's counted, and I owe him that. Us two together are an unbelievable pair. We laugh at everything. And laughter is chemically soothing. I have fun with him no matter what we do. He's very smart, a great dancer, and piercingly witty.Do I believe in Providence as an untamable beast ? I'm not sure it matters if fatalism dominates nature. But then again, I am not sure. If our destiny is written somewhere, I don't really care; it's not like we'll be able to know where the thing is hidden, anyway. I've learned to be practical the hard way because idealistic expectations lead nowhere. I admire realistic people, but I'm not too good at mimicry. I admire those people that perceive the world simplistically. They miss out on a lot of suffering. They're the smart ones.I admire my mother the most.She is so far above me. I've realized not many carry the class she does. She exemplifies the truth about class. Class comes from within the individual. It deals not with money, nor clothes, nor connections. It deals with values, convictions, ambitions, and principles. She's strong- has a strong character. Funny how certain people think they have class, and these beings are the worst. They are the ones who have a little bit of common sense, significant knowledge, and something else, and also the ones who are short of brilliant. Those you have to watch out for. They disguise themselves well. Nevertheless, it's a disguise.I dislike people with weak characters. And I do so because they are smarter. They really are. However, they'll never know they are, so I don't know if it matters.I also want a puppy. And I want to be happy. I'm tired of being just "okay." Being suspended between sadness and happiness sucks since you never really know what you are and can't help yourself. You become entrapped in this state of apathy that slowly consumes you, and when you realize you're being gradually pulled in toward mediocrity, the scariest thing in the world, you're too nonchalant to retaliate. Life's tough, get a helmet. Or quit.I love dancing, too. Especially with my best friend. Everything else is trivial.Update: Now, a year later, I have a puppy.Your IQ Is 135
