My Interests

BEING OUTSIDE! Dogs. Cats. Writing, reading, and being on the road, even though I don't do it often. It's just so special and exciting to be going or to be somewhere different. When things are in a constant state of transition (like on the road), it slows down time. It renders all the confusion just a little less mucky, and holds the rest of your life in traction. I don't know, it has something to do with relativity or something.

I'd like to meet:

My dad. Joanna Russ. Ursula Le Guin. Mikhail Bulgakov. If you are not one of these people, and I don't know you, go away.

Music:

Sure, why not?

Movies:

Eve's Bayou, The Fifth Element, Prisoner of Azkaban, Amelie, Baz Lerhmann's Romeo & Juliet, Emma, the BBC/A&E production of Pride and Prejudice, First Wives' Club, Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, The Producers, Blade Runner, and a bunch of others that I don't have at the top of my head

Television:

Babylon 5. Sometimes South Park. Animal Planet.

Books:

The Telling, The Left Hand of Darkness (both by Ursula Le Guin--or rather, anything by ULG); The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov; Lamb: The Gospel According to Christ's Childhood Pal, Biff by Christopher Moore; A Double Life by Karolina Pavlova; Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison; How to Write Like a Woman: Essays in Feminism and Science Fiction by Joanna Russ.

Heroes:

Joanna Russ, Ursula Le Guin, and Mel Brooks.

The Practicing Non-Catholic

So, in spite of not being catholic, I decided to give something up for Lent this year. Chocolate, cake, ice cream, candy, cookies, and the like. Bea and Niti accompanied me to Coldstones on Tuesday ni...
