Matt Matsuda

Both modern and classical theory training, piano and violin lessons at the age of three, the middle child in a family of musicians... None of this even remotely describes bassist Matt Matsuda. He studied music theory on his own, both online and by tirelessly flipping through second hand books, the old fashioned way. He is self taught, and has never taken a lesson in his life; his sweeping arpeggios, 8-finger (9, if you count the thumb) tapping style and complete freedom to run across the fretboard is a product of the countless hours he's put in, and what he's put into the countless hours. He did not come from a family of musicians and didn't even start playing until the age of 12. He is, however, a middle child (in case you were wondering).Currently he is residing in his hometown of Sacramento, California.
