The dream began in 1992 with original members The Late Kevin "KP" Ener, Sean Bdash3 Whittington. After the passing of KP February 3, 2007, Felisha "DJ Fee" Ener stepped into the position that he left behind. We have a variety of artists that are signed to our lable. Spoken Word/Poetry: BabadocFelisha is also the co-owner of 96.1 FM Tha Zone, Acres Homes Exclusive community Radio station. She began Tha Zone with her late husband August 2005 out of the need for local recording artists to be heard as well as give community information such as health issues, cultural issues, political issues and a varity of other issues that plague the black community. Our purpose was to educate the African American community. We later acquired a business partner Larry "Big Will" Williams as well as a board of directors, and a staff of 33 volunteers. We have helped promote such local artists as Hahje. Hard, E da Mossberg, Phoenix, Mayor Chico, Big Love, Bruce Lattin Cory Mo, K-Rino, Tyrone, VX, Entyse, Willow the Wiz, FEV, Thowed off click, Buck Zquad, Red & Gemini, Big Swiff, Beautiful, Circle G’s, Painkilla, Ghetto Image, Billy Cook, Alley Cat, AUI, Troublesum, Ms. Re’, Moca, Ms. Trinity, Shakespere and Mr. V-doll, X-TRAT, 16 Barz, Southside’s Most Wanted, Shei Atkins, Paper Chasin Click, East 35, Chill and Big, Gengerbread, Kid God, Houstunaz, and many many more.
Tha Zone has recieved Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, as well as State Recognition from State Representative Sylvester Turner and City Recognition from City Councilman Jarvis Johnson.
We have been fighting with the help of our congresswoman for our rights to receive our license from the FCC, we are currently awaiting the opportunity to re-apply and continue to broadcast in our community, in the interim, we have broadcast over the internet at www.961thazone.com.
