About Me

If John Waters and Andy Warhol had a bastard child, that was raised by Divine it would be Asylum…The goal of Asylum is simple, to bring artists, musicians, and creative people together to share ideas, create, and challenge your opinion of art on Long Island. The one and only Asylum, was formed in August 2007 as an answer to the limited opportunities for artists on Long Island. Asylum is a bi-monthly multi-media art exhibit/social experiment held in locations throughout LI. We offer visual art, music, performance art, comedy, and we are Long Islands ONLY burlesque venue. Some highlights from the Asylum include: August 2007- Our opening show! Artwork by David Hollenbach, Peter Bragino, Renee Andolina, and Joe Black. Burlesque by Gigi Lafemme October 2007 – Halloween Show, Paranormal Investigation of historic buildings in Lindenhurst with the LI chapter of TAPS, performance by The Glamour Kings, and the Case of Gretta Connors, Fire & Sword Swallowing by the Lady Aye, Burlesque by Fifi Dupree December 2007- Alter Ego party, with the DJs, Steve C, Lead Gold, Shred, Kenyon and 6, Performances by The Glamour Kings, The Cadavers and burlesque star Cherry Bomb. Performance Art by Mistress Nikki. February 2008-The Black Heart Ball, Truth or Consequences with the one and only Ariel Sinclair! Performances by the Glamour Kings and Replogen. DJs 6 and Descendant, with sword swallower Riley, and Burlesque with Ari. June 2008-15 Minutes, a tribute to Andy Warhol. Fire Performance by Jesse, Burlesque by Sizzle Dizzle and Mary Cyn. 15 Minutes with Ariel Sinclair & Madison Mansfield! Art exhibit inspired by Warhol August 2008- Beach Party Massacre- Zombie theme beach party, with zombie makeovers by special effects artist Shane. Featuring artwork by the Yellow House Brawlers. Performance by the Outpatients. We are thankful to work with such innovative and talented Long Islanders, and are always looking for new talent if you are interested in being in a show email us!
