Masta’ Mind

About Me

Philip Spralling, better known as “Masta’ Mind,” was born August 15, 1990 in Greenville, SC to Wanda G. Spralling and Nathaniel Spralling. As a child, Philip became drawn to the music industry and after losing in the final round of the auditions for “Showtime at The Apollo” young Philip went and revamped his skills. He started writing rhymes, free-styling, and listening to every hip-hop artist possible. His idol is Nelly, and his lyrical goal is to create lyrical clarity and precision like Jay-Z and his mission is to inspire like Tupac. He has not lost one single talent show (15) since his rededication to his craft. Young Masta’ Mind was set to take the hip-hop industry by storm. Having conquered the lyrical capacity of Greenville’s local MC’s, Masta’ was set for a different challenge. He needed a major city. A city were street credit was just as important as booth credit.
August 15, 2001 Masta’ Mind and his mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia to further make their dreams become a reality. Masta’ set out to conquer the best of the best young local MC’s the city had to offer. Realizing his mother was working two and three jobs just to make a better life for him; he focused and worked even harder than before. He traveled to SW Atlanta, East Point and Decatur challenging his peers at local malls and hangout spots in the Atlanta area. Masta’ Mind prides his free-styling ability first. Having done this and gaining the respect needed, young Masta’ Mind headed to the studio to start his demo, working with producers such as TOOMP (producer of recording artist TI’ hit single “24’s”), Sanchez (producer of Xscape, TIP, etc…), and Peter Jacobson of Knock Hard Productions. Masta’ Mind was now starting to gain studio experience and respect. Young Masta’ Mind’s hot singles, “Instruments”, “Get It On The Floor”, and “Turn It” are just a mere example of what to look out for! Masta’ Mind is currently UNSIGNED and he would love the chance to show what he can do in the music industry. His motto is “Young, Positive, Gifted.”
