Taken inside the studio just after recording What They Told You 2007
In late September 2007 ‘The Clay’ emerged from the shelter of their rehearsal room where they had been learning their craft and dreaming of world domination, to perform their first gig at The Breeding Ground. Later that year they recorded their first demos Only 8 months later the products of those sessions ‘What they told you’ and ‘Your summer son’ were released as the bands debut single on London based 1965 records.
Label owner James Endeacott travelled to Newport to watch the band play and immediately took the band under the wing of 1965. The single enjoyed significant airplay both at home and abroad also enjoying best selling single of the week in certain independent recordstores.

Former Frug editor Andy Barding wrote "What They Told You" is one of those timeless wall-punching anthems that demand the right to do anything you want to do... whether that thing is to kick out the jams or just watch Sky Sports at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. The track ‘Keep Breakin Up’ provided for the Love Music Hate Racism compilation, carries on with the Hill brothers Anthony and Jonathan, along with co-conspirator Dougie Humphries in the same energetic frame of mind.
