Accomplished guitarist and composer, Tony Darren garnered a GRAMMY and SESAC award nomination for his CD Sun Song. His first single hit 40 on the Gavin contemporary jazz charts (on over 100 stations coast to coast) and remained on the national charts for over 16 weeks. Tony first began studying guitar with renowned teacher & author Ted Greene, forming a deep bond that would last until Ted’s untimely death. Regarded by his peers as among one of the top jazz guitarists, Tony’s gift for capturing feeling in beautiful melodies is immediate and infectious. While he displays a casual tone, his virtuosity is always evident. Featured in such publications as Guitarist, Jazziz, Down Beat, Jazztimes and TV's CNN ShowBiz Tonight, Tony has worked with such diverse artists as Shadowfax, Tom Scott, Pat Martino, Faith No More, Narada Michael Walden, Wire Train, John Handy, Lenny Castro, Dave Witham, Michael Jackson, Gregg Karukas, Fresh Kid Ice, Brandon Fields, Alphonso Johnson, Mr. Big, Georgia Middleman, Nocy, Al Schmitt, Roger Williams, Freddie Hubbard, Cher, Jason Jones, Don Randi, Richard Bennett, Joe Sample, James Torme, Vinnie Colaiuta and many others. Tony has also composed music for TV shows such as Melrose Place, Murder She Wrote, Young and the Restless, the Weather Channel, ESPN and various PBS specials. In addition, Tony has also shared the stage performing and touring with his own group, doing clinics and touring with other major acts around the world. After having released his international solo debut recording on the Telarc / Concord Music Group label to universal critical acclaim, which continues to sell worldwide, he is currently working on a new CD.
