I’ve been asking myself that a lot lately! These days, I wear several hats – one, as a father of two, and yet another as the President of the On the Road Productions family of rodeo event production companies. Most everyone knows that I started my rodeo career as the owner of the successful team roping production company – Booger Barter Productions. Under my leadership, over $8,500,000 in cash was awarded to team ropers across the U.S. in addition to 277 pickup trucks, 102 horse trailers, 1,344 saddles, and much more.
After selling that company in 2003, I decided to try my hand at barrel racing – besides, let’s face it – barrel racers smell better than team ropers! Anyway, I’m proud to say that World Barrel Racing Productions is now the nations’ largest independent barrel racing production company. To date, I’ve put over $3,910,137 in cash and prizes into the hands of barrel racers across the U.S. – including 14 Dodge dually crew cab diesel trucks.
Barrel racers LOVE to have fun, and who am I to deny them of that? The Bikini Barrel Race has become one of the most anticipated events of our annual Barrelnanza. Well guess what? On December 13, 2008, the first-ever World Bikini Barrel Race will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in conjunction with Denny Gentry’s World Series of Team Roping. Considering this is the closing weekend of the NFR, I expect that we’ll have a pretty good-sized crowd watching those girls zip around the barrels clad only in boots, hats, and bikinis! Ooooh La La!
Recently, I had a chance to buy back the right to be called “Boogerâ€. This was a huge step for me. You see, when I sold my company in 2003, my name went with the sale. Since that time, I’ve had to get used to being called “Bobby.†Anyway, I’m Booger again and boy, does it feel great! I’m also back to producing team roping events. I’m like a new parent beaming with pride over this one! World Team Roping has been welcomed by team ropers everywhere and to date, has given out over $150,000 in cash and prizes, including a Dodge dually crew cab diesel truck. Keep in mind, this was after just ONE event!
Just the fact that I even have a MySpace page tells you that I spend a lot of my time on the internet keeping up with industry trends. This research directed me to create yet another rodeo event- related business – Barrel Racing Buzz – an online educational video resource for barrel racers. Check it out . Short, instructional videos hosted by industry leaders can help you learn more about the sport, how to work with and care for your horse, and even how to handle specific equine-related products. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, perhaps one of the guests to the online discussion boards could help you? A family-friendly site, everyone is on the Buzz to help barrel racers succeed!
Well, it’s time to switch hats again. I’m off to play with my son, Bandera.
Until next time . . .
