Electronathan

I am "Electronathan". My real name is Jonathan Sorge. I grew up on a small farm in rural NJ. My family grew mostly apples and peaches and we had some livestock as well. I've always loved dance music though - you'd think I'd be more inspired by The Boss and country music. But, no; Disco, Techno, electronic-based music was always my thing. I got into synthesizers when I was about nine years old. My mom decided to buy a Roland JD-800 one day and the sounds that came out of it took over my life. My farm was haunted too. In retrospect, it's pretty cool. When I was about 12 and 13 years old it was the scariest thing in the world! See, the farm and much of the area I grew up around had strange Revolutionary War-era battles (when my family first moved into the farm, there was cannonball buried in the foundation of the barn...) and let me just tell you, ouji boards can do some weird-ass shit when you're sitting quietly in a barn on top a large stack of hay bails (I used to make forts with the hay bails and all our stored wooded apple crates - best forts ever!). Anyway. I used to be afraid of the dark... never liked the dark. At one point things got so weird I used to have to sleep under the covers because I could feel people watching me. Like 8 people hovering over your bed watching you sleep. A couple times I'd wake up to the faintest whisperings outside my bedroom in the middle of the night. I used to make landmarks in my head of where the "people" were standing throughout the house. Turns out sometime later my mom and sister had the exact same sense to where people were idling. I used to have to distract myself when falling asleep. I would tell myself jokes, make up stories. I remember one night I was thinking of something funny to myself and I made myself laugh out loud.... and then from the corner of my bedroom... swear to God... someone laughed back at me. Mockingly too. ANYWAY. We eventually moved out of the farm. My parents seperated, my dad had to close up his fruit business and I spent my highschool years living with my mom and sister. I also have two older brothers. And my dad is a cool guy and taught me a lot about life during my high school years (none of which really made sense until I actually started messing up on my own - it'll always work out though, I promise. Just a message for the teenager who may be reading this). After we moved, I was never afraid of the dark again. No erie feelings of people watching me or following me. I surprisingly graduated from high school. And somehow I even mustered up the courage to go to college. Blah blah blah blah. Now I live in Brooklyn, NY and continue to work on music. I am focusing on remix production and producing tracks with other artists as well as performing my own stuff live. So, imagine me as a small boy growing up on a (haunted) farm and being infatuated with electronic music. That's how I'd describe my sound. Thanks for reading.
