Her mother whom she considers her greatest role model instilled in her a strong sense of independence which she got from watching her toil solely and make sacrifices so that both she and her sister could have all the best that she could afford, while instilling in strong morals to see them through life.At 19 years old in 2005 Rachel became Miss Kenya Universe, representing her country, Kenya, at the Miss Universe 2005 pageant held in Bakgkok, Thailand. She was also fortunate enough to gain support as Miss Kenya to take part in many humanitarian activities, something that she holds dear to her heart. She got the humbling opportunity to work on issues surrounding the girl child, women and children and in 2006 and was honored by being given the role of goodwill ambassador for the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), one of Africa's largest organizations for people living with disabilities.Her win also began her career in TV and modeling. She was one of the two main hosts of the popular TV show, "Good Morning Kenya", on the Kenyan National Broadcaster - KBC. The show is Kenya's equivalent to "Good Morning America".As one of Kenya's top models, she did a lot of runway and commercial modeling for Kenya and East Africa as well, appearing on billboards and TV commercials across the region.Among her 'Things-to-do' Rachel loves to sing and hopes to launch a successful singing career soon and has now shifted base to Miami looking to advance her career there as well as follow her dreams.Rachel is the epitome of beauty and brains as well. She aims at becoming a successful marketing entrepreneur and holds an associates degree in Business Information Technology (Dip BIT) from Strathmore University, a Kenyan University, and is now pursuing a bachelor's degree in International Business Administration in Miami while pertaking a new career in Real Estate. "Is this too much?" one may ask, but Rachel believes that everyone owes it to themselves to be all they can be and says that her worst fear is to look back one day in her old age and say to herself that she could have done more with her life but did not because she held herself back for whatever reason. Rachel also loves learning new languages and speaks four of them, English, Swahili, Kamba and German. She's also learning Chinese, Italian and Spanish!
