Surzhyk (real name Yurii Dotsenko) was born in Ukraine (Krivoi Rog)
in 1982. His passion for electronic music started in his 17’s. First the speed garage music style caught his attention. By this time he started producing his own compositions. That led to some exposure and tracks rotation on local radio station.
Gradually developing and more deeply understanding music, he discovered
the "progressive electronic music" and sinc ethen he fell in love with that style. The most influential production was James Holden’s "I Have Put
Out The Light".
In 2004 he wrote the track "Anna". The track received many positive responses and has been selected for a mixed compilation "ANIME" - (mixed by DJ Sample and DJ Toje) which was on sale in small circulation in Ukraine. The track has been also in rotation on local radio station. The track "Anna" has been supported by Osamu M, as well as other DJ’s.
In 2005 he started the project 2MENproject [DJ Surzhyk & DJ RA_D.A.R.] (myspace.com/2menproject) gaining attention of club audience.
Being the resident of the Ukrainian festival of electronic music "TurboFLY" (2005-2007) (www.turbofly.dp.ua), Surzhyk wrote the official anthem for the 2006 Edition of the festival. The track name is "Soul Is Full" and it received many positive responses :)
Recently he has been spotted by d-phrag and invited to the Immersed show on friskyradio.com.
Currently Surzhyk cooperates with Romanian producer Cristian Paduraru, by doing some remixes, as well as pursuing musical perfection in his own tracks.
While he has been influenced by many styles, his favourite styles are: house, progressive-house, minimal-techno-house with progressive mood...
