I go to work so that I can plan mini-adventures and rest…
I was born and educated (attained A’s for rolling joints at Art College) in Southsea, Portsmouth England. I was offered work in South Africa and immigrated there in 1980 when I was about 19 years old. South Africa was my home base for about 22 years; from there I worked, and regularly escaped to do trips into and around Central and Southern Africa. I lived in Hillbrow, the outskirts of JHB & PTA and KwaZulu Natal; I have many great memories of these areas and have copied some old 35mm slides taken from that period and put them into a show below; enjoy...
I moved to the YUK in 2000 and lasted 5 years before moving to Switzerland where I currently work and play; difficult to believe I've been here 3 1/2 years...

Previous Photo Dairys 2007:
One of my many mini adventures in 2007 was a walk up Mount Brisen (+/- 2,500 mt) with my eldest daughter, Sam. This is one of my favourite walks that I often take groups of friends and family on. The extended 2 day version of this walk is well worth the effort.
Future Plans:
This year after the monsoon season is finished I'd like to visit Socotra and do a bit of Eco-Tourism; check it out here - Adventure high and low .
I would also like to get fit enough to take part in the Absa Cape Epic, the magical untamed African MTB race in 2009; check it out here - Absa Cape Epic .
In a few years from now my daughters should be self sufficient; so I’m preparing for my life after kids and ex-wives! Having always been a bit of a wanderer and finding it impossible to stay in one place for too long I have decided that my next major project will be the purchase of a Unimog 404 Radio Box to convert into a Camper suitable for world travel. My journey will have no time frame and no planned itinerary and might never end, unless I stumble across a deserted coastline that lends itself to the establishment of an adventure beach resort for barely dressed babes…In the meantime I will continue with my Summer Project which is to ride my bike over as many of the Swiss Mountain Passhöhe’s as possible (This was a nicotine replacement program after two years of senseless smoking) and then try to improve my skill in the art of gracefully stopping a Snow Board in the Winter (Hopefully there will be some snow this year).
