Yes, we're back!!
Haven't heard from us in a while? That's correct. It's difficult to keep a band alive when the musicians have to travel thousands of miles to make music together whenever their regular day-jobs allow it. But after a year of aching silence, we decided to give it another try in a different form: an international acoustic project that performs only once a year on a special occasion anywhere in Europe.
Band Bio
The international band Waterflow evolved out of the combination of two bands that came together at the European World of Bluegrass (EWOB) in 2005. A journalist of the Dutch magazine Country Gazette wrote the following about this performance:
"On saturday night this group was on the stage and surprised the audience with an amazing set. It sounded like they had been playing together for years. Something as spontaneous as this can only happen at EWOB."
The group decided without hesitating to keep working together on a tour basis and merged their bandnames to form "Waterflow". The band plays a very diverse set of acoustic music with aspects of bluegrass, jazz, swing and country. In 2008, Waterflow released the full-length album "Perfect match for trouble" which is for sale via www.cdbaby.com. It contains Waterflows original songs along with covers by Tim o'Brien, Indigo Girls and Counting Crows.
Waterflow consists of five renowned Slovak musicians who have all developed a distinctly personal style of playing in their many years of experience, and is completed by the low and warm vocals of the Dutch Loes van Schaijk. In Holland there is a saying "What comes from far, tastes good", which applies nicely to this band: sometimes you have to look across the borders of your own country to find the combination of bandmembers that will give the music exactly the right flavor.
