“I decided that rather then just print a photo on a shirt, it would be much cooler to get really good artists to do a design based on the photo and just using peoples’ first name.†Fortunately German artist, Andreas Jeanne (www.skullux.com) had just finished doing an awesome album cover for RTX. Andreas liked the T-shirt idea, and he did two really cool FRIENDSHIRTS designs. The JENNIFER shirt, of Jennifer Herrema, and the LIZZY shirt, of Elizabeth Jagger.
Then LA artist Jeannie Meadows did two more designs in her super-realistic 70’s movie poster style. She designed the REX shirt, of the legendary Rex Thompson. And she did the NOAH shirt, of Schoolgirl frontman Noah Wallace. Now all that was needed was some T-shirts to put all this rad art onto.
“I really like T-shirts, I wear them all the time, so I wanted to make a shirt that I would want to wear.†So Sasha picked a really nice light cotton, and then worked out a cool cut for the shirts with a slight scoope neck and an un-done seem at the bottom. Having found some cool guys in south central LA to make them all, next thing he knew he had a T-shirt line of his own.
“Friendshirts are cool because if you know the person on the shirt, it’s a cool feeling to wear your friend around. And if you don’t know them then its super cool too because you’re wearing something really unique, that only certain people are going to know about.†So hurry up and put a FRIENDSHIRT on!
