About Me

Steven Huber is a Juilliard graduate and former violin student of the world-famous teachers Dorothy DeLay and Sally Thomas. At Juilliard he was an Ear Training Teacher’s Assistant, training fellow students in pitch and rhythm. He enjoyed a successful career as a symphony violinist in such orchestras as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas, Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de São Paulo (OSESP) in Brazil, and, as the concertmaster, the Orquestra Filarmonica de Lima in Peru, where he was able to spend time with his Peruvian relatives and perform solos with artists such as Placido Domingo.
As a composer, while he has not yet had a prolific career, his works have been received with great acclaim. After writing his first orchestra piece “Genesis Overture” at age 17 which was performed by the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, he recieved the Boosey and Hawkes Young Composer Award honoring Aaron Copland by the ASCAP Foundation. Just recently, his piece “O Saçi Pereré” was performed last year by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for their Concert in the Garden series and their New Year's Eve Concert at Bass Performance Hall. He has recently written a short piece named "Mal Lady" for the acclaimed crossover string quartet ETHEL which they will soon be adding to their repertoire.
Steve has performed and recorded as an improvising violinist and keyboardist in such styles as salsa, Afro-Peruvian music, rock, blues, new age, jazz and bluegrass with such artists as Spyro Gyra, Marcus Belgrade, New York Voices, Tina Guo, Supernova, Absolute Ensemble, John Nitzinger, Hijos del Sol, Julio Andrade, Frágil, Nito Mestre of Sui Generis, Gian Marco, Santino, and Randy Jackson of Zebra.
Steve has recently relocated to Los Angeles to develop a career as a film composer, arranger, and session player. He has recently written the music and lyrics to "Pot! The Musical", which was performed (sold out) on 4/19-4/20 in Hollywood this year, and is developing a band consisting of string quartet, bass guitar, and drums.
