Nick Smith- Bass Player

About Me

Nick Smith grew up with music in his heart. His mother played the piano on a daily basis while he played and subconsciously listened. That music stuck with him, all throughout his childhood and teen years until he finally felt compelled to try music himself. In the summer of 1998, he bought his first bass at a local pawn shop. It wasn't much, but it was his, and it made music! That's all he needed. He learned early on by listening to CD's by Weezer and MxPx, slowly but surely graduating to more complicated music as time passed. He started playing with bands and gaining confidence with each and every show. He eventually inherited the bass chair in the band Under the Son, and stayed with them for 3 years until they disbanded, all the while pushing the envelope of bass playing in rock music.
After a while, Nick felt the call to attend music school, which he did. A 10 week program at the Player's School of Music helped him decode his instrument even more than he had done on his own. While it was only a brief time there, he learned a great deal. When he returned, he eventually joined a regional cover band, Moving to Boise. The band had been established for some 5-6 years, but came to an unfortunate end after Nick was with them for only 2-3 months. This is far from the end though...
...as a matter of fact, it's only the beginning! NIck continues to practice on a daily basis, waiting for the next opportunity to share what is in his heart and in his fingers.

So, as you may well have seen, I took over the old Hollow Point site. It wasn't getting any use, and I'm (admitedly) too lazy to start a new page from scratch and add a whole slew of friends, so I sim...
