UNDERWATER TEA PARTYUnderwater Tea Party es un quinteto madrileño formado por Clara Martínez (voz y teclados), Irene Bonilla (bajo), Martí Perarnau (guitarra y sintetizadores), Mikel Alberdi (guitarra) y Javier Cantudo (batería) que por cuestiones del azar se juntan un día cualquiera de febrero de 2004 procedentes de distintos puntos de España.En octubre de 2004 viajan hasta Andújar (Jaén) para grabar con Pedro Cantudo en los estudios Sequentialee su primera maqueta que ya incluía canciones como “The untold story about Mary and Nick”. Dicha demo les abre las puertas para participar en el Proyecto Demo 2005 que organizan Radio 3 y el Festival de Benicàssim y se cuelan en la final, donde actúan junto a Garzón y Standard –los otros dos finalistas-, y Lori Meyers. No ganan pero la intensidad y frescura de su directo encandila al público y especialmente a Julio Ruiz (Disco Grande, RNE-3). Ese mismo año salen elegidos mejor maqueta por los oyentes del mecionado programa de Radio 3. Fino Oyonarte se enamora de su música durante la primera edición del Festival Navalpop y les propone producir su álbum de debut, "Suburban Metronome", que graban en 2006 y se publica en el verano de ese mismo año con una gran respaldo de crítica y público. ENGLISHUnderwater Tea Party is a five member band from Madrid formed by Clara Martínez (voice & keyboards), Irene Bonilla (bassgirl), Martí Perarnau (guitar & analog synthesizers), Míkel Alberdi (guitar) and Javier Cantudo (drums), who almost casually got together in February 2004, each member being born in different points of Spain.In October 2004 they road down to Andújar (Jaén, in Andalusia) to record with Pedro Cantudo in the Sequentialee Music Studios, concluding in a first six-track demo which already included songs as "The untold story about Mary and Nick". This recordings allowed them to take part in Proyecto Demo 2005, an annual event held by Benicàssim's Music Festival and Spanish National Radio (RNE-3) in search of new musical talents, where they slipped past into the final together with “Garzón” (now “Grande-Marlaska”) and “Standard” (also as contestants) and the special collaboration of Lori Meyers. Although they didn´t win, the intensity and freshness of their live show fascinated not only the audience, but also Julio Ruiz (a classic indie radio DJ in Spain), being recognized by the audience as the year´s best in RNE-3.This way we get into 2006, when Underwater Tea Party assemble in Sonoland Studios (home recording of classic bands including The Rolling Stones, Rosario Flores or even Flamenco legends such as Camarón de la Isla), working side by side with Fino Oyonarte (responsible for such a classic Spanish indie recording as the "Super 8" album by "Los Planetas"), they conclude their first album "Suburban Metronome".LAYABOUTSLayabouts nace del encuentro de cuatro jóvenes madrileños Javi, Jon, Rober y Víctor, que se juntan en octubre de 2005 para formar una banda de pop guitarrero, con una clara influencia británica. La cosa empieza a funcionar desde el principio y salen canciones de forma natural donde el protagonismo lo tienen las melodías vocales y los riffs de guitarra.Como principales influencias suelen nombrar a Joy Division y los grupos americanos de garage de los 70, aunque es fácil reconocer las raíces en los clásicos de los 60 y las grandes bandas del rock. Así, podemos oler aromas a Beatles, Kinks, The Who o hasta The Cure en sus canciones. También tienen sus referentes en la música actual y no dudan en mostrar su admiración por bandas como The Killers, Bloc Party, The Bravery, The Kooks, We are Scientist, Arctic Monkeys…Tras sus primeros conciertos se suma al grupo para los directos Martí Perarnau (Underwater Tea Party, Sixty-nine Million Inches) para arropar las canciones con los sintes. Los arreglos que introduce Martí dotan a las composiciones de Layabouts de unas dimensiones mucho mayores y su presencia se hace indispensable sobre los escenarios, tanto que termina convirtiéndose en miembro definitivo de la banda.El quinteto viaja a las cálidas tierras del Puerto de Santa María en marzo de 2007, donde graban con la producción de Paco Loco en los Estudios Odds su álbum de debut.Las grabaciones fueron rápidas y se hicieron en un tiempo menor al inicialmente previsto y las mezclas se mandan a los estudios Sonoland de Madrid, donde Dani Altarriba se encarga de la masterización. El resultado de este trabajo son once cortes que forman “Layabouts”, un disco que podría catalogarse de “rock bailable” pero que tiene garage, power pop, rock...“Fine for me” es el single de presentación del disco, la ventana que se abre al interior de Layabouts, un tema absolutamente pegadizo que invita a tararearlo desde la primera escucha. Pacific Productions han sido los encargados de realizar el videoclip, dirigido por Iván Mena Tinoco.Layabouts han sido elegidos como mejor grupo maquetero de 2006 por los oyentes de Disco Grande de RNE-3.ENGLISHLayabouts are a young band formed in Madrid in the fall of 2005. The four original members (Javi, Jon, Rober and Victor) wanted to start an indie rock band after finishing their previous projects. They started rehearsing together when naturally powerful guitar riffs and catching vocal melodies bonded together to create their first songs.As major influences they normally name Joy Division and the american garage bands of the 70’s, although you can easily recognize classic influences from bands of the 60’s. This is the reason why in their songs you can see strokes coming from the Beatles, The Kinks, The Who or even The Cure. They also have influences in the actual rock scene and are not afraid to confess their admiration for bands like The Killers, Bloc Party, The Bravery, The Strokes, The Kooks, White Rose Movement, Death From Above or Test Icicles.After a few months, Martí Perarnau (Underwater Tea Party, Sixty-nine Million Inches) joined to the band, first as a live musician, playing keyboards and sinthesizers, which give a new three-dimensional atmosphere to the songs and more dancing rythms. Finally, he became a permanent member of Layabouts.In March, the band moved to Cadiz to record their first studio album produced by the acclaimed producer Paco Loco and mastered by Dani Altarriba at Sonoland Studios in Madrid.“Fine for me” is the first single and Pacific Productions has produced the video, directed by Iván Mena Tinoco.Layabouts was voted as the 2006 Best Amateur Band by Disco Grande’s audience, one of the most important radio programs in Spain.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
