Born and raised in South Florida, April Henry has been singing “before she
could talk.†She remembers watching her Mother sing on the “Grand Ole
Gospel†in Nashville TN, while her Father conducted the orchestra for a
song her parents wrote together, and that was it. April was hooked and she
knew what she was meant to do. Growing up in a Jewish and Christian
home by two very distinct and artistic parents, she was exposed to a
kaleidescope of viewpoints in art, literature, and music at a very early age.
Her Father, a history teacher and musician, exposed her to the classics of
Pop music among other cultural trends in music. Her mother, a musician and
jack of all trades, was always inspiring and concocting some new idea,
song, or project while teaching piano, playing Chopin, and snatching her
daughters out of school to go to the movies. In school, April sang in the
choir, and when time came for the school talent show, she chose an
R&B/Gospel song and has been singing “Soul†ever since. Although it is
hard to place a classification on April’s music at times, she enjoys her
ecclectic exploration as the variety captivates her audience and insists it
always comes back to “soul.†“There is endless variety and growth in staying true to your soul vision.â€â€œ...Brave, affecting voice...between Janis Joplin and Whitney Houston...â€

writing and performances to new heights. As a live performer, she is known
for her ability to connect to the audience and to go from light and
spunky to deep and affectionate extremes.“...the woman who makes us laugh and moves us to tears is a funny, fierce
force of nature.â€
