About Me

2003 was the beginning of Brokenfor. Brothers Ben Lawrence(guitars, Lead vocals) and Daniel Lawrence (bass, Backing vocals)joined with drummer Dicky Baxter to form a worship band for theirChurch Wroxham Rd. Methodist (Rocky-Road). Leading worship from ayoung age meant the band learnt how to play together and soon began towrite songs of their own. Bassist Dan Lawrence quotes: “Worship is thesacrament of music.” which runs throughout the bands songs.
Being a 3 piece, the band set out to make a sound different tobands heard before. Sporting an alternative rock style theband create songs from guitar driven rockgrooves to calm and worshipful quiter songs. “We have, voiceand bass led melodic patterns through our songs, which I feel sets usapart from other bands sounds.” says Ben Lawrence who writes many ofthe bands songs. ”Having no lead guitarist, doesn’t mean our sound isany less exciting or powerful. I think it means we just have todisplay that sound in other ways and through good lyrics.”
The band has been in the process of creating sounds, writingsongs and gigging for the last 5 years. Over this period they havedeveloped and improved every part of their performance and sound, moulding together and growing in their friendship. “I think being in aband that’s made of your best friends’ means you can work really welltogether and get your ideas across without any problem. Of coursewe’ve had our moments of annoyance and difficulty but I think that’sjust made us stronger friends and better at what we do.”
In summer '08 the band was produced with the opportunity to play on the fresh talent stage at the biggest Christian arts Festival in Europe - Greenbelt. This opportunity allowed the band to experience a bigger stage and audience and can only mean that the band are aiming high for what they want to do with there music.
Now the band is at the beginning of writing their debut EP, in their own studio creatively named LivingFor Records . The EP is set to be out inEarly 2009. Many songs have been worked on over the past yearthat are worthy of being recorded and the band have already finishedrecording a demo CD which is available for download direct from them.
