Steamroller earned themselves a large and loyal following by holding long-term residencies at legendary Austin venues such as the Black Cat Lounge, Steamboat and Antone's between 1994 and 2002, while regularly playing classic Texas road joints like the Dixie Theatre in Bryan, Club Dada in Dallas and the Satellite Lounge in Houston.
The band released 4 full-length CDs, mostly through their own label Redwood Records. Steamroller's releases enjoyed modest airplay on their hometown FM rock mainstay KLBJ, numerous other commercial rock stations throughout the US and on college radio nationwide...
Steamroller's tour highlights included gigs in California, Colorado, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Florida as well as sharing the second stage with Gov't Mule for a couple of shows on the 1998 HORDE Festival Tour headlined by Blues Traveler, Ben Harper and Smashing Pumpkins.
Steamroller has remained "semi-retired" since early 2002, playing only one or two shows per year exclusively in Austin. Shortly after calling it quits, the members formed a "pop punk" group called the Quitters and quickly wrote and recorded 18 songs. The Quitters played a few shows at respected punk rock dives like Beerland and the Hole In The Wall before quitting completely.
Singer/guitarist Kevin formed a band called Red Line Riot in 2006 with Steamroller drummer Brandon. Singer/guitarist Mikey formed a band called Spoiled Royals in 2007, which also features Brandon on the drum kit.
On June 17, 2009 Steamroller played a rare one-off acoustic show to an enthusiastic crowd at the Austin honky-tonk the Mean Eyed Cat.
