THE LAYZEES

About Me

Bio : THE LAYZEES are out of LOUISVILLE, KY and their sound is as unigue as their line up. With a pizza delivery guy singer, Lambert, a drummer they aquired with no queistions, simpley because he had a kit and could work the hi hat like a great pop music drummer should, when there drummer who founded the band quit after months of ongoing differences, and dont forget not old enough to drink yet lead guitarist, and a white rapper bassist. The ingredients each of them bring to the glass make for a pretty smooth cocktail.Benjamin David has a voice that sounds at times, like he's trying to sing you to sleep, only so that he can go out and find trouble, He sounds similar to Marc Bolan of T. Rex but has his own style as BEN LAYZEE. Singing todays music of yesterday, all the while having in his voice what every band needs for success, Distinction! Realizing he had a gift for singing and song writing by "just doind it" and out of a love for music and a want for a way out of the hard times in his life, he spent many long hours strummin and singin. With his his old hard times Brent Robinsin(Bens best friend) wanting to play and write as a outlet but not having much money bought a toy digital toy drum set for 10 bucks from a thrift store and together they went to work. With their unorthadox approach at writing songs and their poetic and honest lyrics they formed the writing team known as Collard/Robinson.The two had been friends and jammin together for years but didnt start a band til 2005 although they had attempted to several times in the previous years. Together with the help of there future bassist joe they wrote and produced there first album Band-Aids for Broken Hearts at their home studio, (studio B.).It was somewhat of a healing album for both of them. Then a little while later adding Chris Herbert on lead guitar after Brent met him at a sh*tty dishwashing job. Chris was already a fan and knew how he wanted to spike the punch. The addition of a 12-string guitar and added vocals, blended perfectly. Joe was a rapper down the street that played bass and had already spent many late nights out with the band "Burnin' em down". And the fact that he had already helped out in the studio, layn down a few guitar tracks for Band-Aids, made him the perfect choice to add the bottom their music. The Brew was complete!, They went in the studio in march and started recording their fourth album NEED SOME CHANGE,to be released after the release of there somewhat experimentel single ISNT IT SAD With the band growing fast and with the strange brew came creative differences that although tried, could not be over looked or ignored and in the midst of making the album and playing "never know what to expect live shows" every month, Brent left the band, with no notice. A sad day followed, but the show must go on. So they had to find a drummer and a.s.a.p.,and bring him up to speed quick to finish the album and play shows again, so thats what they did. Good drummers are hard to come by, But chris said he knew a guy who had a decent kit and wasnt playing with anyone, so they jammed and he was the hand steady pocket drummer they needed and he seemed to dig the variety in their music so he was in, .......................Now, THE LAYZEES are back in the studio again working on NEED SOME CHANGE, and playing shows, they are hoping to have the album finished by no later than april of 08',and be the soundtrack to your nitecap......THE LAYZEES want to THANK YOU for visiting their site and hope youll come back to check out new updates, show info, and new songs added. ............................................................ ....................................................THE LAYZEES WOULD LIKE TO THANK, IN NO CERTAIN ORDER THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE, WHO HAVE DEDICATED TIME, EFFORT, SUPPORT, AND EVEN MONEY INTO THE BAND:::::::: ROG & JO LEE, TIPHANIE, JEN, LILIA CONSTANCE CATHERINE COLLARD, JOE SNIDER I, MATT & CHAD HARDESTY, MARK BRYANT, MITCH,OUR FANS, DEVORE,CHARLIE DENCH(ONLINE MGR.), KURT JANISKO, NATE, COREY DUNN, LAMBERT GLASS, TRUITT & JAMES AND ALL OF THE OTHER LAYZEES, JAMIE & GEORGE, BEN'S MOM PAM FOR ALL THE LATE NIGHT PRACTICES, BRENT, GRANDMA PERASON, ALL THE GUYS DOWN AT THE TAPROOM,THE KAROAKE LADY AT MARMA-DUKES, BEARNO'S BY THE BRIDGE, MANAGER MIKE, DIRTY DAN,AND ALL THE FANS AT OUR SHOWS *SPECIAL APPRECIATION TO- ALL OF CHRIS' FAMILY, TERRY HARPER(PROMOTER), WOO-MAN, LARRY AKA CRAZY SKILLZ, BRYAN AT SHOUT RECORDING STUDIO(PRODUCER-NEED SOME CHANGE) DEREK FAULKNER, EVERLASTING LIFE AND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WE DIDNT MENTION........THANKS.................... //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///-THE LAYZEES COPYRIGHT2007-//////////////////////////////
