About Me

The art of listening to music has been lost. The vast majority of the pop culture music scene is terrible, and puts the main basis on video, money, image. You know, "how awesome you are" or "how little clothes you can wear" or "how you went crazy and shaved your head." Now, this isn't to say that image is a completely bad thing, it's going to be there whether you want it or not- but for the most part it’s bad in this day and age, because it often results in the music getting lost. It’s like there has been some huge mechanical failure in society, where its ok for us to buy an album for one song. THIS DOESN’T STAND TRUE FOR ALL BANDS! Believe it or not there are people who make music for the fact that they love music, not caring about the money or fame (it’s a plus I suppose); that’s where we come in.
We want to bring music back into the limelight, and yeah, we can’t change the music industry single handedly, but that’s not the goal. (Think locally, not globally!) We want to support and/or create a music scene in this town. We want to create a collective where you can come to find (or special order) the music that is worth buying. Our focus is the music and it's culture- we are not some corporate store, over stocked with nonsense and that has as many Family Guy action figures as they do CD’s. (Family guy is a great show, but why buy music form a store that’s not really interested in music?)
When you listen to an album on vinyl, it is difficult to skip songs and so it is best to enjoy each side in it's entirety. The "lack of convenience" might be a considered downside to some, but would you rather listen to a band where almost every song is worth listening to or a band that has one good song, made for fame? This isn't meant to knock one hit wonders (we like A-Ha as much as the next guy), or to say that you will like every band that we carry- that's the beauty of opinion. We prefer to give you the best options. We feel music is best appreciated on vinyl, where you can hear every little sound that the artist wanted (or didn’t want) you to hear. Plus if the record does suck, you can just melt it into a bowl or make it into a bracelet. Try that with a CD!
Don’t worry- we aren’t an anti-CD cult or anything. You have to have something to play to in the car, and the LP’s don’t fit in the player.
Besides vinyl records, we also carry CDs new and used (and we can special order anything you would like, anything at all), along with DVDs of the musical persuasion (obviously).
