Algid stood out in the many dictionaries, Rory searched, while looking for a word to epitomize the band’s dreary, sometimes sickly lyrics and unstable chord tones. Coming together in Rockville, Maryland, late 2006, with bassist Dan and drummer Patrick Jefferson, guitarist Rory Raley and his childhood friend, guitarist/vocalist Scott Avendano, sought to present cryptic lyrics and complex guitar riffs in a way that was universally likeable. The resulting indie rock manages to incorporate an eclectic mix of influences such as jazz, progressive rock, and even hardcore, without losing it’s “pop†appeal.
