About Me

Born in North Cyprus to Turkish parents, Cengiz (pronounced jen-gis) Eren taught himself the guitar from 15. He began lessons with Dr Matt Gould (of duo46) at age 20 during his gap year at Eastern Mediterranean Unversity in North Cyprus while majoring in mechanical engineering at Rensalear Polytechnic. Then he went to the prestigious Peabody conservatory to continue his studies with Ray Chester, student of the renowned guitar teacher Aaron Shearer. After a year he also started his composition studies with Judah Adashi. In 2008 his piece Searching got performed at the Cortona Contemporary music festival.

Sounds Like: A mixture of 20th century styles, with tonal ambiguities, atonality, bitonality. Mysticism and its equally vague resolution is the primary concern, through a path that starts less tonal, and gains tonality gradually or vice versa
