About Me
It all started when I was a little boy in Cardiff.... I just wanted to play guitar like my Grandad. He'd bought me my first guitar at the age of 7 and I messed around with it for a couple of years til I began classical guitar lessons at the age of 9. TUDOR MORRIS taught me up to Grade 5, then BRIAN NOYES at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Then: PATRICK O'BRIEN got me through to Grade 8, having already helped me to win the Soundwave Trophy in the category of Classical Guitar, helping me also to win an Assisted Scholarship at the WCMD. DYLAN FOWLER taught me the rudiments of jazz, then I came to my senses and began bunking off school, going round to my mate Joe's house and jamming some rock and metal. YEAAAAHHHHH!!!! I left sunny South Wales for London, where VINNY THOMPSON and HUGO CHAVEZ-SMITH gave me the finest education known to man in psychedelia. By the age of 23 I had become a Psychedelic Monk with my very own Door Of Kukundu... There followed a whole decade (the 90s) of amazing musical friends and acquaintances with whom I learned so much. Too many to mention all, but SIMON WOODWARD, BARRY FROST, TITIN MORAGA, ADAM TOWNLEY, MIKE HUDSON (HUMANOIDS LECH), ABID RAHMAN (D.J.DIBA), PAUL WALLER and ADE EMSLEY stand out. The early 00s were my musical wilderness years, getting involved with JONT as his guitarist, really being a part of something I believed in and then for it all to fall by the wayside, finally marked an end to any original musical output for 5 years. But good things come of the bad, as I learened so much about live musicianship from TONY AYIOTIS, (FREESTYLERS, 7TH SON). I'm playing in a covers band called TOPCAT and in the last 4 years we've clocked up enough airmiles to travel to a nearby star system, going to places like the Falkland Islands, Oman, Quatar, Venezuela to entertain the Armed Forces in operational areas worldwide. Band members are SIMON "BOBBA" SWAN (drums), JAMES COOK (FLAMINGOES)(bass, vox) and are now being joined by the talented Mr GREG ARCHER (COMMANDER SWIFT)(keys, guitar, vox) and Yours Truly(guitar, vox). We also play the Walkabout circuit UK wide and do private gigs. Anyway, fuck this shit, I'm bored writing... I'm BACK!!!! I'm hungry, and I NEED this!!!!!!!
