Bee stings and mood swings and cheap red wine

About Me

Hello, I'm Jennie B. Welcome to the page. Poetry and blog live here .
Previously performed with Jaymz, Wookie, Glen and Mark (AKA Pube) in goth-rock band Resurrection (now the fantastic synth-rock that is No Redemption , check them out!).
Swapping goth-rock for goth-folk (hey, it's only a matter of changing a couple of letters and you get a whooole different sound), while in Oxford I was in folk band Spiderwoods with Dave Todd , Toni and Purple Dave.
I'm currently learning guitar and clarinet in a bid to 'go solo'. So expect some stuff up here soon. Until I get some more songs sorted, I will stick some of my poetry up here for you to enjoy endure.
Being a singer is ace; all you ever need to transport is yourself! That said, getting a cold can be a right bugger! In the future, I hope to get my mitts on a piano, then I can complain about transportation. ;)
Available for birthdays, weddings, and other such nice events (go on, I dare you to invite me to sing at your fetish night!)
I'll add more when I have time to scribble, and apologies for my strange sense of humour. I was born in Stockport after all...
Blessed be xXx
Where I will not perform
I'm not a primadonna; I just have politics.
I will not perform - or take money - from: people who make their money through animal cruelty or through exploiting people and the planet. And fascists, racists, homophobes, and misogynists - don't even bother...

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://jenbee.wordpress.com
Band Members: Jennie B - vocals, and guitar. Currently experimenting with clarinet and bass guitar. And if anyone spots a cheap/free piano in Manchester, do let me know!

Past singing ventures:

Spiderwoods Sea Green Singers Côr Cochion Caerdydd Backing vocals for Paul Spencer on Keep the Prices Low Resurrection Cheshire Youth Choir Knutsford High School Choir and Girls' Choir Sale Operatic Society The Alicia Bardsley Singers

Influences: Random and eclectic: classical, political folk, radical choirs, riot grrrl shenanigans, bubblegum punk pop disco , performance poetry, activist theatre, punk and cheesy ska-punk, grungy schtuff, 'lock n load' rock n roll, more folk and pretty indie loveliness, and lots more musical joyousness all washed down with lashings and lashings of Früli.

Performers and musicians include: Joni Mitchell, Thea Gilmore, Ani Difranco, Lisa Germano, Regina Spektor, Dresden Dolls, Le Tigre, Steve Larkin, Dave Todd, Chloe Poems, Rosie Lugosi, Sophia Blackwell, Moldy Peaches/Kimya Dawson, Riot Folk! Collective, Paul Spencer, Robb Johnson, Leon Rosselson, Tracey Curtis, allabouteve, Teardrop Explodes/Julian Cope, The Cure, Helen Love and more that I've probably forgotten to include (for now).

I also continue to be inspired by the actions of people who fight for: animal and human rights; social and environmental justice.

Sounds Like: A six foot gothic girl with long black hair and punk soul trapped in the body of a five foot nine henna-haired hippie who sounds like an extra from Corrie.
Record Label: Unsigned
