MC-mon & The Mighty Vibes

In the fall of last year, the MC/singer Simon "MC-mon" Ström was scouting for musicians to back up his new reggae repertoire. In november the to-be Mighty Vibes crew was put together under the name of "Fotfolket" and started preparing for the first gig, performing at the Falun Student Union Center in december. The show was a success, but the band composition and concept had showed a bit unstable. On preparing for the first concert, at the popular "Club Pure" at Harry's in january, the saxophone and the second guitar was cut out of the set, bass player got changed and the quire added up with a second woman. The new seven-man team took on the name "MC-mon & The Mighty Vibes".Upon the MC's return from a trip to Africa with a hole heap of new material, in march this year, the crew decided it was about time to make a record. The "Fire Within" EP was soforth composed, arranged, produced, recorded, mixed, mastered, cover designed and all that, then finally released on the 28th of september. During that time MC-mon & The Mighty Vibes did numerous shows in and nearby Falun plus a week's touring of southern Sweden. Word of mouth must have been effective considering the the turn-up for the release party - the place was packed and the crowd in a great mood.Naturally, the success ignited an ever hotter fire in the hearts of MC-mon & The Mighty Vibes, who are now yet more focused on turning this year's progress into a life-lasting movement.
