What would you get if you mixed the voice of John Legend, with the Tone of Luthor Vandross, topped with the richness of Lauren hill and the soulfullness of Jill scott? You would probably hear something that sounds similarly like Maaka.Maaka is an emerging singer from Wellington, Upper Hutt who has very quickly become a familiar face in the wellington music scene. He has played up and down the Country at different times in his careerMaaka has worked with many well known Musicians since his career took flight as a vocalist in 2003. Having toured with Members of Brooke Frasers band from her early days, playing with Peter Blake at a blues night in Wellingtons CBD and a plethora of other amazing musicians, including the occasional Jam with Tyna Keelan, Darren Mathiessan and Andy Mauafua (to name a few) Maaka has most recently returned from Fiji as part of his Churchs Mission trip, where the band he helped produce, MISSIONBAND, played throughout the Fiji islands over a two week period.Maaka currently serves in 4 different Bands as a fulltime band member. Soulservant, Flux Hill, Chocolate Swift and 5star, a well as freelancing in 2 other bands. He is currently in the process of bringing together a band which will focus mainly on original Neo-Soul material. Maaka is also a vocal coach and teaches from his office in Silverstream, Upper Hutt.
