MAMA ES known more commonly as Shawna Seymour, found poetry as sanctuary at a young age. As her writing progressed, she realized her hidden talent with words. She always had a love for hip hop growing up and started Attending hip hop shows at the age of eleven. It wasnt until four years later she began applying her poetry into lyrical form.Shawna grew up in Kamloops,British Columbia. She always had a sense of leadership and believing in making a difference in her community. Music became her only outlet. Freestyling at the age of sixteen at social gatherings, she built confidence through the good energy and feed back of random found audiences and peers. One year later, her cousin Jesse (Ryeoptiks) came home from the coast and discovered her closet case talent. He then encouraged her to apply skill, and from there she got put down in SunDown Stylistiks Crew, and then came FLC (First Ladies Crew), as well as UCG another expanding hip hop crew out of the westcoast.In the past year she has been in and out of the studio working on crew cuts. Mama Es was featured on four tracks from the Sundown Mixtape Vol 1. which was released summer 2005. Since then she has worked on tracks with; Geo, Ryeoptiks, Alias, Creeps, DJ Combz, Think Twice, Eons, Sneak and TmelaD. She released her first album "Exposed", August 2006.Mama Es would like to give shout outs to Family, Friends, Crew and Fans for their support and encouragement throughout the years.
